Just as in real army life, there is a ranking system contained within the game and the ranks are based on experience and skill levels that are achieved through game play. And of course, like most games, you will move up in rank fairly quickly in the beginning and find it tougher to achieve higher ranks as you progress through the game.

As in real life, you will begin as a recruit and as you gain experience and are rewarded achievements, your ranking will go up. Halo 3 ranks are shown and explained on many websites that offer information on how to play the game successfully and complete the missions assigned to you.

As you increase your skill level and accumulate experience points, you advance to the next rank although there are exceptions where you may move up to the next rank depending on how the level you are on is played and how many points you need to advance. In some cases where you may be short on experience points but have attained the required level to move up, your rank will be increased based on successfully completing the level.

Some players have complained that the way the Halo 3 ranks are set up can be confusing and difficult to interpret but that if you keep on playing, eventually you will be promoted even if you don’t understand how the system works.

The basic premise in the Halo 3 ranks is to gain experience, conquer the levels successfully, and then you will advance through the standings. The harder the level, the more points you receive as you complete it as in any type of game. The number of experience points awarded is also based on your win/loss record, the type of game you are participating in, and your winning streak totals.

Team players will find that their skill level and experience points may increase and decrease depending on who wins the game so, of course, it is preferable to be on the winning team. Players who choose to play in the Lone Wolves category will find that only the top 3 players will gain experience points. As you play the game, you will discover what type of game best suits your strategies for game play and how to make the most of your expertise to advance more quickly.
