Beware gamers…the brilliant creators of Halo 3 have pulled a fast one on you! As in Halo 2, there are special skulls hidden throughout the levels and combat zones of the game, BUT this time, you’re on your own. No information boxes to pop up to tell you what the skull does to your or your enemy. You’ll have to take your chances if you activate any one of the halo 3 skulls and learn from experience.

Gold and silver skulls are strategically located throughout the game. Some are easier to find than others and a few are well off the beaten track. So you’ll have to take the time to do a search and retrieve to get them. You may even have to use your superior athletic and acrobatic skills to accomplish this.

For those who are impatient or don’t want to look for them, there are websites that list the skulls and the consequences upon activation. But you don’t want to do that do you? Kind of puts a damper on all the fun of running around, don’t you think? Each halo 3 skull has its own unique properties and you will have to experiment to find out how they may affect you.

Take note that most of them will be more beneficial to your enemy than you although a couple of them may help you in combat, or at least put a smile on your face.

As you progress through the game, you may stumble upon one of the four gold or nine silver skulls. Each has a specific purpose and most can change the game dramatically. Be sure to be ready to react quickly if you decide to activate one as the results could be disastrous if you aren’t prepared. The halo 3 skulls are only a sidebar to an already exciting and challenging gaming experience. The actual objective of the game is to defeat the Covenant, destroy the Flood, and save the galaxy and all life that lives within it from the dire threat posed by the Halo network.
