Halo 3 the game is a first-person shooter that was developed by Bungie Studios and was made exclusively for the Xbox 360. Halo 3 picks up where Halo 2 left off and also concludes the story regarding the arc that was started in Halo: Combat Evolved and continued into Halo 2. In all three of the Halo games, the gamer plays as the main character that is named Master Chief.
In Halo: Combat Evolved, the player simply plays as Master Chief. Halo 2 changed things around when half of the game was played as Master Chief and the other half of the game was played as the Arbiter from the alien race known as the Covenant. However in Halo 3, the gamer is still playing as Master Chief, but this time around he has help not only from the Marines but he’s also allied with the Elites who are lead by the Arbiter.
Halo 3 the game is set in a fictional Halo universe, just like Halo: Combat Evolved and Halo 2. Now the story behind Halo revolves around these massive ringworlds that are scattered all across the galaxy and are several hundred kilometers in diameter. Thousands of years ago, a race known as the Forerunners constructed these rings to be able to use as a last resort against an alien species known as the flood.
However when theses rings are activated, they will destroy all sentient life, thus, depriving the flood of any kind of food. In Halo: Combat Evolved, a human ship comes across one of these ringworlds. They manage to destroy it, thus stopping the flood once again. In Halo 2 the Covenant try to fire another ring to try and fulfill their religious prophecy but are unaware of how destructive these rings are.
When Halo 3 the game was released for gamers all around the world, the game brought in $170 million US within its first 24 hours and grossed over $300 million within its first week of release. It became the best-selling video game of 2007 in the Unite States as well as the largest pre-ordered game in gaming history.
Gamers are led to believe that this is the last Halo game in the trilogy. This may or may not be true. What gamers do know is that there have been talks that Bungie Studios has been developing a new Halo game with Peter Jackson. So it’s safe to say that gamers have not seen the end of Halo just yet.
